Who we are

CMJ Electrical is a NAPIT-certified electrical contractor based in Cardiff, Wales. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

What data we collect

When you use the contact form on this website, we collect:

Your name
Your email address
The type of service you are enquiring about
Any additional information you choose to include in the message field

We do not collect payment details, sensitive personal data, or information about children.

Why we collect it

We collect your contact details to respond to your enquiry and, where you proceed with a job, to fulfil the contract for electrical services. We do not use your data for marketing without your explicit consent. We will never sell or share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

Legitimate interests — responding to your enquiry before any contract is in place
Contract performance — processing necessary to carry out the agreed work
Legal obligation — where we are required to retain records under applicable law

How we store and protect your data

Enquiry data is transmitted via Resend (a third-party email delivery service) to our business email inbox. Resend acts as a data processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement. You can view Resend's privacy policy at resend.com.

We do not store your form data in any database. Once delivered to our inbox, your data is handled in accordance with our standard email retention practices.

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process request metadata (such as IP addresses) for security and performance purposes. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

How long we keep your data

We retain enquiry emails for up to 12 months after the last contact. If work is carried out, we keep relevant records for 6 years to meet our obligations under UK tax and contract law. After these periods, data is deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
Erasure — ask us to delete your data where there is no legitimate reason to retain it
Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances
